“Definiteness of purpose is the starting point of all achievement.” ~ W. Clement Stone

life-purposeLife purpose: What is purpose?

The free dictionary defines purpose as an object toward which one strives or for which something exists; an aim or a goal.

Purpose however could mean many different things. It could mean being intentional – and when you act on intentions you gain speed from an unseen force which literally drives you to the Zenith of your life.

The word ‘purpose’ is highly imperative and it has since been discovered that without it no man can live a life of purpose.  I’m sure you know that even the Supreme Being, that is, God is a purposeful personality and he would never do anything without a purpose. Looking back in the eyes of my imagination to the time of creation, I realized that everything God created at the time was created for a purpose, even man. Less you’ve forgotten, God created you to rule and dominate over the affairs of this world.

So you must strive to know why you are here; you should know and understand your purpose – the reason behind your existence.  See, lack of purpose would cause a major and constant failure in every of your activities in life’s endeavor. The lack of purpose breeds failure, shattered hope, and aborted destiny. It therefore boils down to Dr. Myles’s Quote, “The greatest tragedy in life is not death but life without a purpose.”

But if you have purpose in which you can believe, there’s no end to the amount of things you can accomplish.

Some two months ago, I was asked which the wealthiest place on earth was, and as savvy as I think I was I replied, “It’s Qatar”. To my greatest dismay it turned out to be that I was wrong. The wealthiest place in the world after all isn’t Qatar?

I first heard this while listening to an audio program featuring one of my mentors Les Brown. I then finally found a reference to it online and I’d like to pass it on to you.

So here:

What is the richest place on earth?

This place of endless riches is not in the Middle East; where there’s rich black gold buried deep beneath the Earth’s surface—nor is this place in South Africa where there is a plethora of diamond mines. The wealthiest place in the world is a cemetery. Now one would ask, “For what justifiable reason is the wealthiest place in the world a cemetery?”

Simply put, in a cemetery, you fill find that there are books that were never written. There are songs that were never sung. There are ideas that were never acted upon—dreams that were long forgotten. If one were to die today, then what ideas and what aspirations would die with him or her? And the immediate contingencies that relied on the survival of such a reverie would eventually perish with the evanescing dream.

Will your dreams and aspirations be buried with you? Will you contribute assets to the cemetery or will you leave them fulfilled here on earth? The answer to these questions lies in knowing and understanding your purpose and pursuing it through and through. When you have done this, success will definitely be the end result.

Over to you.

When next you are thinking about what your purpose is and you are feeling down, be sure to remember this quote by a notable friend.
