Looking To Kill Productivity? Consider These 11 Expert Killers

Looking To Kill Productivity? Consider These 11 Expert Killers

This list is in the order for the biggest productivity killers on the block. These are the things that stop people from working or they hinder them so much that they may as well have taken a big break and carried on working a little later. Here are the productivity killers you need to avoid.

productivity killers

Warning! Staring at this dog for longer than 20 seconds can kill your productivity.

1. Facebook

It is the worst thing on the Internet for killing productivity. It is banned from most offices before the pornographic sites are banned. It is something a sane person will burn hours of time on without even realizing it. Plus, when doing a task that is boring the person will keep checking Facebook to see if anything has changed.

2. Not having enough sleep

This makes people slow down no matter how hard their resolve really is. It makes people slow down and there is nothing they can do about it. They can try caffeine for a little while but it is just postponing the inevitable slowdown.

3. Having the TV or having music on

This is a frustrating one because people are often adamant that they work better with some music on or the TV on, but the fact is that they really do not. There has never been a successful test that has shown having music or the TV on helps productivity. The only report that came close was when they played classical music to school children and they did more work, but it turns out it is because the children were not talking as much because they had to speak up over the music and were caught by the teacher.

4. Any form of alcohol

There are some people that think it makes them more creative, and it is certainly excusable if you think it helps you think more clearly because it does remove inhibitions, but it certainly slows you down and makes you less productive.

5. Working without a break

This is another one that people will argue against. There are people that brag they can work through their breaks and get all their work done, but there are people that can work, have their breaks and still get their work done. The people that miss breaks are actually being more unproductive because they are working longer for the same results a person that took breaks would have achieved.

6. Multitasking

Again, this is another thing that people think they know best on. They learn how to multitask and they think they are getting a lot done, but what they are actually doing is creating more work for themselves and getting less done as a result. What they are actually doing is switching tasks which helps them maintain their motivation, but if they simply took a short break every time their motivation waned then they would be more productive.

7. YouTube

This is a social media site that has a fantastic talent for sucking up all your productive time. It is very easy to get lost watching some of their videos and some are addictive enough to keep you there for hours. The only reason this is not at the top of the list is because it is possible to run out to ideas for things to watch and so you have to stop watching.

8. Twitter

This can be a productivity killer if you log in during peak times when the network comes alive. It is possible to lose a few hours reading through the many tweets that come up.

9. Social media in general

This seems like a bit of a cop out, but it stands for your personal network. You may be into the photo sharing sites, bookmarking sites, or whatever, but the fact is that many people have a favorite social media network and it is highly likely to be a productivity drainer.

10. Gif and funny picture websites such as funny junk

There are probably a few of these sites but the most addictive is Funny Junk. They have images and gif animations that are entered by the general public and they can be brilliant. At the very least they are highly addictive. Not meaning the break the fourth wall here, but the point above mentioned social media in general, well this writer’s vice is Funny Junk. It is dangerously addictive as I click just one more before I leave the site, and then just one more, and then just one more.

11. Google images

If you happen to be searching for a certain image for your project, it is easy to get caught up in the images because the tags for images give such unusual results. You are looking up pictures to represent the Big Bang Theory and up pops a very graphic picture of what Kaley Cuoco had to do in her teens to get on TV. Before you know it the images are flying around and you have lost forty minutes looking though the weird image results.

5 Tips on Finding The Best Topics For Your Blog

5 Tips on Finding The Best Topics For Your Blog

 5-tips-on-finding-the-best-topics-for-your-blog

Blog topic? What the heck does he mean by blog topic?! Well, blog topics are an important part of a successful blog. Some bloggers simply write about whatever is on their mind, creating an online journal of sorts. Successful bloggers know however that to have a great blog, you cannot always write about what you want to write about. You must also keep the interests of your readers in mind when writing. After all, if you want a successful blog, you have to depend on the readers to show up often. To keep your blog as fresh as possible, consider using these five ways to find winning ideas for your blog topics. By now you know I won’t recommend what wouldn’t benefit you or one that I’m not already using.

Hope you find this post as interesting as the guys here did…..

Do Your Research

Smart bloggers know that each day there are popular search terms listed on large searching sites. Bloggers can use these search terms to help them get more traffic to their blogs. Each day a blogger can look at these popular search terms and creating posts using them. If the blogger is lucky, they will increase their traffic due to more people looking for that term. By researching the topics that are hot with readers each day, bloggers can create things specifically for the readers. Doing research may take a little time and you might never be writing about what you want to write about, but you will likely have more traffic than ever.

Ask Around

If you have been blogging a while you might have began to hit low points where you really have no more topic ideas left. Some writers call this “writer’s block” while others just see it as a small hurdle to be surpassed. Truth is I don’t I have never suffered from this so called “writer’s block and don’t think I will but just in case you have come to this difficult point, the best thing to do is ask around. Talk to interesting people you know. You can ask them what topics they find most interesting at the time. If you would rather be a little more subtle, simply bounce a few topics off of them to see which ones they respond strongly to. Use the topics that they respond strongly to in order to gather ideas for posts.

Use the News

The news is a great place to gather topic information for your blog. News teams research and investigate for hours to gather their topics. By using similar topics, you can skip all of the hard research work and still be a success. Never use their ideas exactly, just take them and use them to develop your own. For instance, if there is a major political issue going on in the news, consider creating a post about what you think about it. You don’t have to use the news story, just the topic idea along with your own words.

Follow the Lead of Others

When you are looking for great blog topics, consider visiting popular blogs to see what they are talking about. Don’t steal their ideas, but use the visit to stir up great ideas of your own.

Sometimes when you see others working at their highest potential it can spark new potential in yourself. You can see which topics get the best response for their blog and decide if you could get the same response with a similar topic.
Now, I think I have to come clean here. I don’t have an idea of the blogs I visit each day but the most popular one’s I visit are aha-now, writeclever, emfastincome, blogtyrant, Reginalchan, Doncaprio, Onenaijablog, Viralwriter and a host still. The major reason I visit this mentioned blogs is to generate blog posts ideas and I also watch out for the way their topics is being structured. Has it helped me? Of course it has!
Sleep on It

If all else fails and you are still trying to come up with a list of interesting blog topics, consider this interesting strategy. Go to sleep each night with a clear head. In the morning, before you even open your eyes, target the first thing on your mind. Write it down immediately so you don’t forget. Then use these things to develop interesting blog topics. You would be shocked at how inspiring our first thoughts can be. They are so interesting because they are not clouded with any outside stressors from reality. They are simple thoughts typically that can be used successfully on a blog.

Three Simple Ways of Keeping a Blog up to Date

3 ways to keep blog upto date

Introduction:

Keeping a blog up to date is one of the most important aspects of blogging. This is so important because regular blog visitors expect new postings on a regular basis. In case you don’t know, visitors expect to see a new post as often as once a day while some would love to get content updates on a weekly basis. It however depends on the subject matter such visitors might be looking for, which is either more frequent. 4 surefire factors of success

4 surefire factors of success

If like me, you aspire to be a success in today’s rough and tough world, then this masterpiece is for you. And whether you accept it or not, to achieve success in life’s endeavor you will need to understand and follow through the 4 Surefire factors of success.

Before we start talking about factors, let’s talk about the basis… See, we all have our school of thoughts and for me; I love definition because I believe definition shapes our lives and brings out the best in us.

In furtherance, what is success?

Success is defined in The Free Dictionary as “The achievement of something desired, planned or attempted”.

And in the Oxford Dictionaries it is defined as “The accomplishment of an aim or purpose”

You would agree with me that these definitions are quite inventive but I’d like to put it in my own words; success is conceiving something in one’s heart and achieving it irrespective of how small or big it is by positively affecting your society or people in the area of your influence.

So let’s talk about the…….

  Vital Factors of Success

In achieving success you must have these four factors: Imagination, Belief, Action, and Discipline. Of course there are many factors but these four has really worked for me. The most important however is belief.

In order for you to achieve success in anything or perhaps your life you have to first believe. You need to believe in yourself that you can achieve anything.

The good book says, “Whatever the mind can conceive it can achieve.” Hence, belief is in the mind an

d heart. Everything we do in life starts with a thought. Without the thinking process, things may still get done but you can bet that you’ll not get the desired results.

So let’s start….

Imagination: Albert Einstein said, “Your imagination is your preview of life’s coming attractions.” I concur with Einstein’s thought because for you to achieve success in life, you must have first seen it, and you will only see it in the realm of imagination.

With imagination you can capture all that you want to become in life and the good thing about it is that it has no boundary. If you would ask me what imagination means, I would tell you simply that it is an image nation where you are allowed to paint the picture of your life. You could either paint it badly or beautifully.

This makes it understandable when Napoleon Hill wrote, “The imagination is literally the workshop wherein are fashioned all plans created by man.”

Undeniably, God is the Creator and He has blessed us with minds to create, too, through the power of imagination. If you can imagine it you can achieve it!

Belief: Belief is a key ingredient of success because when you think hard and truly long for the result of success, it becomes a belief. When you believe hard enough it becomes a conviction and conviction in turn give

way to the crucial sparks that will en-kindle what you have implant from your mind to your heart. “Conviction is the fuel of a positive attitude.”  And conviction plus positive attitude equals success.

Action: Any individual who wants to succeed in life’s endeavor must embrace the word ‘Action’. You might have the best idea in the world; your idea might far surpass those of brother King, John Roebling, Einstein or perhaps Steve Jobs, if you don’t make move by taking action you will succeed in being static at a point. I lo

ve the way Isaac Newton put it when he said, “All objects will remain in a state of rest until a force is applied.” When you take action you position yourself to succeed. Remember, great movies are great moves!

Discipline: Action in itself is not sufficient to increase the chances of success, but disciplined action will. Many have failed as a result of zero discipline in their action. They give themselves excuses as to why they can’t carry out their plans, why they can’t complete a certain task. No wonder my friend Temitope Adelana penned, “Excuses are the tools of the incompetent, monument of nothing. Those that use it are generally unwise and barely make it in life.”

You will need to be sacrificial if you were to achieve a certain degree of success because without sacrifice there would be no victory.

Discipline allows and gives surety to your persistence, especially when you encounter challenges in your journey to success. Please take note that a disciplined man is a committed man and when you’re committed you attract success!

Conclusively, imagination alone will not solve your problem to becoming successful, I have seen folks who spent their lives imagining things but they never amounted to anything. Trust me I have been through it myself. 🙂

You want to achieve success in life? Then you will do well in following the 4 factors of success highlighted above. See, my sincere advice would be, Imagine – Paint Big Pictures, Belief – Who you are demonstrates what you believe, Action – Apply a force and you will never be afraid of remaining in a point, Discipline – For you to govern others you’ve got to be the master of yourself.

Over to you…..
